Filming for The Grand Tour finishes in Whitby

Former Top Gear trio Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are in Whitby, as they film the latest instalment of their new programme Grand Tour.
For anyone staying at a hotel near Whitby wanting to see them in action, look out for a giant tent in the Endeavour Wharf car park
Filming has run for two days in front of a local audience, after beginning on Thursday 13th, and ending later today.
It is the first stop in the UK for The Grand Tour, having already filmed in Johannesburg and California before moving onto Finland, the Netherlands and Lapland for further episodes.
Clarkson, born in Doncaster, has already filmed in the North Yorkshire fishing town, when he tested the BMW i8 for Top Gear back in 2015 and claimed that it was home to the best fish and chips…in the world.
The Grand Tour will be aired on the 18th November this year, available on the online streaming service Amazon Prime after they signed a bumper deal with them back in July 2015 after the threesome left their job presenting Top Gear, after Jeremy’s infamous fracas with a producer.
The show has a budget of £160 million spreading over 36 episodes, that’s £4.5 million a show, which is four times the budget of Top Gear.
New ITV drama ‘Victoria’ has recently been filmed in Whitby, with television and film bringing an estimated £20 million to the Yorkshire economy.
Whitby has been the host of many scenes in books and television, with long running British police drama Heartbeat using the town as a prominent filming location. It was also the location for Brian Stoker’s Dracula claiming his first victim.
Fans lucky enough to be in the audience were told to expect thrills, spills and fish and chips by the seaside.
