30 July 2018
We’ve put together a fantastic list of the 8 best wedding photographers in North Yorkshire, with each one sure to capture the most important day of your life in all its beauty.
1. RICHARD WOOD PHOTOGRAPHY
Based in Scarborough, Richard Wood has been known for ‘making time stand still’ with his photographs. Photography is not just something Richard fell into either – it’s a part of who he is with both his grandfather, grandmother, aunt and brother all having been professional photographers too.
Richard describes his style as a photographer as someone who will “capture it all without intruding on the moment, who is experienced enough to anticipate what is coming, notice what is happening and take great pictures that tell the story of it all.”

2. CJRODGERS PHOTOGRAPHY
Craig Rodgers is a specialist wedding photographer based between Leeds, Yorkshire and Harrogate. Craig describes his photography style as mostly ‘documentary’, saying “I won’t get in your way or tell you what to do; my job is to capture your special day from start to finish – with the end product being warm, personal and 100% you.
“I aspire to create work that is visually striking, romantic, natural and fun. Nothing over-posed or awkward, I promise!”
Craig does of course take the all-important group shots, as well as taking the new husband and wife away momentarily for intimate portrait shots they’ll be able to cherish until the end of time.

3. RUTH MITCHELL PHOTOGRAPHY
Ruth Mitchell has been a lover of photography since she was a schoolgirl. After studying photography for 2 years, Ruth worked as a press photographer which taught her how to work quickly and capture moments right as they unfold.
“I have a casual but very organised approach to make sure that everything runs smoothly and timings of the ceremony and the reception are adhered to,” says Ruth. “My main aim is that you enjoy your wedding day and do not worry about the photographs. Yes, it is important to have a handful of posed pictures, but the majority will be taken using a long lens which enables me to be unobtrusive, capturing those moments and details which tell the real story of your special day.”

“When Rich joined Emma at a wedding we realised what an awesome team we make. Rich is the analytical to Emma’s emotional. She sees happy tears and belly laughs, he sees a killer composition. 7. HAYLEY BAXTER PHOTOGRAPHY
Hayley Baxter’s passion for photography started back in 2011 when she purchased her first camera ready for her safari honeymoon trip. “What started as a hobby soon became an obsession, and here I am today pinching myself that I do this for a living.”

“I pride myself on making everyone feel completely at ease in front of the lens – people are at the heart of what I capture.”

8. ABBIE SIZER PHOTOGRAPHY
Abbie and her partner Lee are based in North Yorkshire, although they often work all over the UK. “We setup Abbie Sizer Photography in 2011 and have since strived to create a wedding day photography style that is natural and relaxed, making sure that each photo captures a real memory of your day and suits those, who like us, prefer to be behind the camera rather than in front of it.
“One of the biggest benefits of being a two person team is that we will not miss a moment, even during the preparations, Lee can be there to photograph the preparations with one party and I can be with the other.
“We encourage our couples to concentrate on enjoying their special day and to not worry about posing for staged photographs. For the majority of the day we will be snapping discretely, capturing those ever so special moments in a natural, unobtrusive style.”
